Photographic with Intent: Photography Intensive with Bruce Meisterman

Spring Summer Other Arts and Culture

What’s Happening?

It’s one thing to go out and take a photograph; it’s another to take a picture that tells a story. To do that, there must be intent, a resonating with the surrounding world that influences the photographer to respond and capture an image. Join acclaimed photographer Bruce Meisterman for a talk about his philosophy, journalistic approach, and love of the art of photography.

During this workshop, Bruce will cover a brief history of photography and how it came to be, the role of emotions in photography, selecting your subject matter, equipment needs, and Truth. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own photographic works to share during a group critique.

Bruce Meisterman began his career as a photo-journalist, traveling across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Ultimately that resulted in his first book, Arn? Narn., a photo-documentary of vanishing rural Newfoundland, published in 2012. His photography has been exhibited in numerous galleries, private collections, and museums. His work has been featured in publications such as the New York Times, Country Journal, Yankee magazine, Memphis magazine, Delaware Today, and The Sun magazine among others.

The museum and all its programs are made possible by the generous support of museum members. Members enjoy free daily admission to Memphis Brooks Museum of Art and receive discounts of up to 50% on ticketed events. Join today at thebrooks.org/join
