Ready to travel the globe without leaving your seat? Join us for a 5-session drumming journey where rhythm is your passport!

From the vibrant rhythms of West Africa to the soulful Baladi of Egypt to the joyful Samba of Brazil, you’ll discover how every culture drums—and why rhythm is truly a language we all share.

When: Sundays, 11:00am–12:30pm

Who: Everyone’s welcome—especially beginning-beginners!

This is a hands-on, joy-filled experience in a supportive community. You’ll laugh, learn, and leave feeling energized. No experience needed—if you have a heartbeat, you have rhythm!

- The origins and cultural meaning of each rhythm
- How to listen deeply, feel the groove, and stay connected to the pulse
- Interlocking patterns that bring the music to life
- Simple strategies to easily learn and remember rhythms
- How drumming can help you relax, focus, and recharge your energy

Oct 5 – Fanga (Liberia, West Africa): A rhythm of welcome and celebration
Oct 19 – Ayub/Baladi (North Africa & Middle East): Rhythms rooted in community and dance
Nov 2 – Shiko (Nigeria, West Africa): A joyful, energetic groove
Nov 16 – Kuku (Guinea, West Africa): Traditionally played to celebrate women returning from fishing
Dec 7 – Samba Reggae (Brazil, South America): A powerful, danceable rhythm born from Afro-Brazilian traditions

A drum if you have one (djembe, dunun, or similar)—or rent one from Jeni
A seat or chair if possible (limited chairs available)
Minors are welcome with a participating adult
