What’s Happening?

In the first class this new year we will talk about the Philosophy of Astrology, what it is (all areas of astrology), why we are interested in it, why it might work, how we can use it to benefit ourselves and other relationships, as well as what the potentials and limits of Astrology are. These include some of the metaphysical and ethical issues that are involved.

This class we will hand out a survey to fill out to see what people coming to the class are wanting to learn more of in the field of Astrology. We will give out some astrological cheat sheets going over some basics that you can take home.

To get your own birth chart you will need your exact date/time/and location of birth. While you can look up your natal chart on plenty of websites, we recommend astro-seek.com so you can change the house system to whole sign houses because we are using whole sign house system primarily in this class.

Hello! We are Steven Abernethy and Matthew Kimball. We have been focused on astrological studies together intensively for the last year and a half while living at the same dwelling. Matthew is a student of astrology since 2007 and has concentrated on Evolutionary and Hellenistic astrology heavily in the last 5 years. Matthew is also interested in harmonics, Ayurvedic Astrology, Gene Keys, Human Design, Alchemy, and many other synchronistic divinatory systems. Matthew is currently a Montessori Teacher for children and teaches gardening classes. Steven Abernethy is a student of Jungian, Evolutionary, Mayan and Hellenistic Astrology. Steven is a researcher in the fields of psychology, Integral Theory, Tarot, and Human Design. Studying Philosophy in school has given Steven a unique perspective on the different values and perspectives that different cultures have on astrology. Steven works as a practicing Astrologer and is a writer on metaphysics and prose. We both together work to hold space for independent learning, promoting astrological tools for analysis, and an anthropological view of the multifaceted branches of astrology.

Steven Abernethy went to Texas State University studying Philosophy while Matthew Kimball gained an Associates in Math/Physics/Pre-Engineering and a Bachelor's in Art History from The University of Houston
