On A Winter's Eve: Peace

Christmas Concert Orchestra

What’s Happening?

On a Winter’s Eve: Peace invites audiences into a serene celebration of hope and stillness in the winter season, performed by the Chorus Austin Combined Chorus with guest musicians on harp and organ at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church.

The program features Gerald Finzi’s In Terra Pax, selections from Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, and Diane Whyte Clayton’s joyful gospel piece One By One, commissioned by Chorus Austin. The chamber ensemble adds breathtaking a cappella works, including Eric Whitacre’s Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening and Ola Gjeilo’s radiant The First Nowell. Beloved carols, both timeless and newly imagined, weave throughout the evening, culminating in the world premiere of On a Winter’s Eve, an original work by Artistic Director Ryan Heller.
