Join us as we celebrate Babe’s Birthday!

Our Asian elephant Babe is turning 51, and we’re marking the moment with special treats, keeper chats, and a chance to see her enjoy some birthday enrichment. She may be the youngest of the elephants, but she’s also the largest, weighing in at an impressive 11,700 pounds. Babe is a social butterfly and an enthusiastic painter whose artwork often helps support conservation efforts. She is easily recognized by the distinctive star-shaped brands on each of her hips—markings applied during her time in Burma (now Myanmar) to reflect the country’s flag and identify her as a working elephant. Come cheer her on, watch her explore something special made just for her, and be part of the celebration for this special elephant!

Fun Fact: Elephants have been part of the Little Rock Zoo family since 1937, beginning with the arrival of Ruth. Since then, many remarkable elephants have called our Zoo home. Discover their journeys in Legacy of Giants, where we celebrate these incredible animals and the stories that shaped their time here.
