Of Forests & Florals: Anwesha Biswas Art Exhibit
September 1-30, 2026
Reception: September 13, 3-5 pm
On view in the Visitors Center

“Anwesha Biswas is a representational artist based in Memphis. Her primary works are based in oils, painted with the alla-prima technique using a limited palette of around six colors. She works from both life as well as photographs with carefully designed compositions. Her art journey started in 2016, learning from online lessons, in-person workshops and time spent at the Ravenswood atelier in Chicago.

The subjects of her paintings revolve around her love and admiration for nature and the flora it offers. The works on exhibit depict florals in elegant settings, that display sophistication in their simplicity and natural charm, painted in natural daylight settings. Alongside are landscape paintings spanning seasons: from spring with trees bursting with blooms to lush green woods depicting the long summer days, stretching to the colorful autumn and the serenity of a white winter. All scenes captured in her landscapes are those she encountered during her stay and travels, including in India and US, with the scenic beauty of Tennessee currently inspiring her the most. She wishes that each viewer finds in her work a fondly familiar scene from nature, or a favorite flower painted with care that can hold a place in one's heart just as it has captivated the artist's.”
