What’s Happening?

Make one original design—and learn how to reproduce it!
In this hands-on workshop, you will create a vulcanized silicone mold around a flat pendant or earring without cutting the mold open with a scalpel.

You will learn how to:

• Prepare a jewelry model for molding

• Pack a mold frame with silicone rubber

• Vulcanize the mold safely

• Use a jewelry vulcanizer or a simple toaster oven

• Create a clean opening for wax injection

• Inject repeatable wax copies

• Prepare your waxes for lost wax casting

This workshop is ideal for jewelry artists who want to create short production runs, reproduce original designs, replace lost earrings, or offer custom jewelry such as family and mother’s pendants.

Skills Taught and/or used in the class: Wax injection reproduction, Sprue placement, mold packing, vulcanizing, wax injection.

Skill Level and/or Prerequisite: - Beginner

Instructor Bio: Chuck Hunner is a professional jeweler with more than 52 years of experience in lost wax casting, wax carving, silicone moldmaking, and short-run jewelry production. He brings deep practical knowledge and genuine enthusiasm to teaching, with a special joy in helping other jewelers gain confidence, preserve their best designs, and expand what they can create. His instruction emphasizes clear technique, safe tool use, and methods that can be put to work immediately. When he’s not making jewelry you can find him painting walkable labyrinths.
