Photographing with Intent
This is a 6 week class.
Tuesday nights from 6PM-7:30PM, April 19th 2022-May 24, 2022
It’s one thing to go out and take a photograph; it’s another to take a picture that tells a story. To do that, there must be intent, a resonating with the surrounding world that influences the photographer to capture an image. In this course, students will develop a story idea and see it through to fruition using a journalistic approach. Discussions, along with reviews, will center on being present and building a relationship with the subject, determining if the work truthful, learning that the photographer is not the story, how to structure a story, and more. In the end, the student will have gained insight in how to take the picture they want, and how to take a picture that says what they want. Students should come prepared with a digital camera or may rent one through Arrow.
