The Joan C. Conway Concert Series (formerly Free@3) Presents Pablo Mahave-Veglia and Paulina Zamora

Live Music

What’s Happening?

Cellist Pablo Mahave-Veglia and pianist Paulina Zamora first performed together as teenagers, having met in the music studio of Mercedes Veglia - Pablo's mother and Paulina's piano teacher. This year marks the 42nd anniversary of that first collaboration.

Dr. Mahave-Veglia, a Professor at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a cellist of wide-ranging repertoire, from early baroque on period instruments to contemporary Latin-American works. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Indiana University, and the Eastman School of Music, he has performed worldwide and recorded for labels including Eroica, Centaur, and Innova. He is principal cellist for the Holland Symphony Orchestra, and is beginning his tenure as the artistic director for the new Joan C. Conway Chamber Concert Series (formerly Free@3).

Dr. Zamora, a Chilean pianist and professor at the University of Chile, won the 2016 Circulo de Criticos de Arte of Chile Award and was the first classical artist nominated for Chile's Pulsar Awards. A doctoral graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, she has recorded for Eroica, Delos, and Naxos, including a Gramophone-praised Brahms Piano Trios album and an award-winning Bach solo recording.

The duo will perform together this weekend. The concert is free and open to the public.
