What’s Happening?

What if everything you knew about your beginnings was built on a lie?

Good on Paper Books & Stationery is honored to welcome author Patricia Knight Meyer for a special conversation and signing of her powerful debut memoir, Wonderland: Memoir of a Black-Market Adoption.

Patricia's extraordinary story begins right here in Houston, Texas, in 1970, when her adoptive parents drove away from a hospital with a newborn baby, but no birth certificate, no legal adoption paperwork, and secrets that would take decades to unravel.

What began as a seemingly loving adoption became a lifelong search for identity and truth. As Patricia uncovered disturbing questions surrounding her adoption, including allegations of extortion and an underground baby trade, she found herself confronting painful family secrets and the complicated history of adoption in America.

Part memoir, part investigative mystery, Wonderland explores the legacy of the Baby Scoop Era, the exploitation of vulnerable mothers and children, and one woman's determination to reclaim her own story.

With its roots in Houston, this is an especially meaningful story to share with our local community.

Join us for an intimate and thought-provoking conversation with Patricia about her remarkable journey, the writing of Wonderland, and the questions her story raises about family, identity, and the search for belonging.

The conversation will be followed by a book signing and an opportunity to meet the author.
