What’s Happening?

ORDER OF GO

ABOUT THIS COMPETITION: This competition must include the same paces and figures at the Short Grant Prix. However, the rider is free to choose the form and manner of the presentation as well as the music.

The final classification will be determined by the placings in the Grand Prix Freestyle to Music test.

TICKETING: This competition is included in the All Session Package, Dressage Package and sold as a Single Session ticket.

WHAT IS DRESSAGE? The actual word "dressage" is French and evolved from the verb dresseur meaning to train.  Dressage is a unique discipline for riding a horse. Dressage is an Olympic discipline, where horse and rider are judged on how well they can perform a series of prescribed movements.

Dressage is the ultimate expression of a horse and rider working in harmony. Their swan-like poise and grace disguise their emotional intensity and obsessive attention to detail. Performed in a serene setting, spectators watch in quiet awe, respectful of the skill and dedication of those striving for beauty and perfection.

The degree of difficulty increases from the Training (beginner) to Fourth Level, USA National levels to the FEI (Federal Equestrian International) levels, which are the same tests performed in every nation worldwide. The tests have separate movements that flow together and each movement is scored from 0 to 10:  10 means excellent, 5 means sufficient and 0 means the movement was not performed.  Excellence is achievable, perfection is not a consideration.
