What’s Happening?

This is a series for beginners or any artist that needs a refresher on drawing. In this 3 week series, you will gain a solid foundation and understanding of the basics of drawing.

Class 1, May 20th, 12pm-3pm Blocking out shapes: In this class, we will experiment with charcoal and pencil to draw from life and to draw from a photograph using a grid. Half of the class will be spent practicing with graphite and the other half in charcoal.

Class 2, May 27th, 12pm-3pm Tones and Shading Class: This class will focus on refraction, shading, and texture. We will learn about the value scale and different shading methods. We will experiment shading with both charcoal and graphite

Class 3, June 3rd, 12pm-3pm Putting it all together. In this class, we will put together our ability to draw overall compositions and shade within those compositions. Each student will draw with the medium of their choice (charcoal or graphite) for the final class.
