What’s Happening?

This Zelebration will kick off LeMoyne's Chain of Parks Art Festival for 2021. As a world-renown artist and FSU professor, Zerbe entrusted LeMoyne Arts with the largest collection of his artwork in the world. LeMoyne Arts will be showing eight never-seen-before pieces for the Zelebration, along with hosting lectures and roundtable discussions on civil rights, Zerbe's art journey, and birding (Zerbe is best known in Tallahassee for his collection of bird lithographs inspired by his time at St. Marks Wildlife Santuary).

LeMoyne Arts will be making Kar Zerbe's treasured bird serigraph collection available for purchase. These limited edition serigraphs, silk screened by Karl Zerbe assisted by LeMoyne volunteers, will be available (unframed) for $400 each, LeMoyne Arts members receive a 10% off their purchase.

Come to the Zerbe Bird Event on Saturday, April 10th from 11 am - 12 pm, to see guest speaker, Dr. Todd Engstrom, discuss Zerbe's bird-related work along with other regional birding content. An optional $20 donation at the event will automatically enter you into a contest to win a free Zerbe bird serigraph!

Another exciting event hosted by LeMoyne Arts: Karl Zerbe: In His Time and in Ours. Tuesday, April 13th from 6 pm - 7 pm. Guest speaker, Dr. Preston McLane, Director, FSU Museum of Fine Arts, will explore the life and career of Kar Zerbe, situating his practice within the historical contexts, styles, and movements of his time while also challenges audiences to look critically at how Zerbe approached the subjects of his art works. This will be a small, in-person and virtual event live streamed on Chain of Parks Facebook page. FREE tickets are available for in-person option at https://www.eventeny.com/events/2021chainofparksartfestival-1128/.

In-person and virtual exhibits featuring Karl Zerbe and other artists he inspired can be found at LeMoyne Arts, Council on Culture & Arts online gallery and Tallahassee International Artport Gallery, TCC Hurst Gallery, and FAMU Foster-Tanner Fine Arts Gallery. This city-wide Zelebration will inspire and strengthen our vibrant community in a fun and COVID-safe way. Come and enjoy all that the Zerbe Zelebration has to offer and enjoy tasting German-inspired custom brew created by Proof Brewing called the "Zerbe PilZner", in honor of Karl Zerbe's German heritage. It is served at the festival and at other venues that carry Proof Beer.
