Basic Bookbinding: Coptic Stitch Sketchbooks with Ariana Sellers - Powered by Arrow Creative


What’s Happening?

In this one-day workshop you will design and create and hand-bind your very own coptic-stitch sketch book or journal!
(Coptic binding or Coptic sewing comprises methods of bookbinding employed by the Copts in Egypt, and used from as early as the 2nd century AD to the 11th century.) Students will choose from either a decorative paper or fabric to use for their book cover and will complete a 100 page book.

9am-12pm: Lecture and preparation of covers
12pm-1pm: Lunch Break (Bring a bagged lunch or explore some of the great restaurants in the Cooper-Young area!)
1pm-6pm: Page preparation, assembly and sewing binding
Tuition: $90 , Materials: $20

Level: Beginner

Arrow will provide all tools and supplies

NOTE: In order to stop the spread of COVID-19, all participants must wear a mask covering their nose and mouth while at Arrow.

About Ariana:
Ariana is an artist and educator based in Memphis, TN. She is currently serving as the Youth Initiative Coordinator at The National Ornamental Metal Museum.
