What’s Happening?

These shows are presented as a part of Projectorfest 2024, a four-night showcase of ambitious multimedia-driven comedy projects. More at projectorfest.com. This performance includes two 30-minute shows.

AMY MULLER’S VITAL SIGNS - Amy Muller

The world abounds with familiar signs: “STOP,” “NO SOLICITING,” “LINE STARTS HERE…” but for many years, Amy Muller has been enchanted by the rare delicacies, the ones that leave you with more questions than answers, more fears than instructions. Ones like “NO SOUP ON ROOF” (Williamsburg, April 2023), or “YOU SHOULD KNOW THE FUNCTION OF BANISTER” (Yangzhou, 2017), or “FREE GUINEA PIGS” (Aspen, 2023). And as she collects her little treasures, she can’t help but speculate as to what, exactly, happened that might have inspired them. Amy Muller’s Vital Signs tells the story behind each of her favorite signs—or at least, offers her best guess.

DAD, PLAYBOY & ME... NOT YOUR AVERAGE SLIDESHOW - A.G. Norton

Comedic storytelling featuring rare Playboy Club photographs, anecdotes from the people who worked there, and the personal journey they inspired. Follow our narrator's journey through iconic photographers, their personal connection to her family history, and research showing intersections between impressionism, the Dada art movement, the lost generation in Paris and their influence on modern day street photography. Oh - and Playboy. It's wild….

Back in NYC after performances in Berlin, London, & The Edinburgh Fringe Festival this comedic slideshow gives an intimate look behind the Playboy Club through archived film rescued from a basement in New Jersey. The show was delighted to be awarded winner of the Brighton Pride Bursary at the Brighton, UK Fringe Festival 2023 supporting queer storytelling.

"It showed me a new angle to the Playboy Clubs. I found it fascinating" –Marston Hefner

ABOUT THE CREATORS

Amy Muller (Performer/Writer, Amy Muller’s Vital Signs) is a writer, producer, and comedian—but she’s also been a speechwriter, roller coaster operator, political canvasser, zoo cleaner, and middle school RA. Under her own name, she’s been published in The Belladonna and Points in Case, been nominated for a College Emmy, and performed standup in New York, Chicago, London, and Berlin. She’s also a writer and producer at Wendover Productions, where she writes for the channel Half As Interesting, designs games and challenges for Jet Lag the Game, and, somehow, more. Under other, more famous names, she’s been published in TIME Magazine, CNN, and The Washington Post, and covered by Variety, Deadline, and The Daily Beast. When she’s not busy not bragging in Google Forms or bothering Quinn, she can be found searching the world for signs, rollerblading, and walking to urgent care because she broke her wrist rollerblading (again <3)

A.G. Norton (Performer/Writer, Dad, Playboy, & Me... Not Your Average Slideshow) quit her job as an after school teacher for middle schoolers to tour her Dad's Playboy photos and the stories she discovered behind them. She wrote and performs this show along with her show wife and artistic creative partner, Jenn Gomes.

Quinn Jackson (Producer, Amy Muller’s Vital Signs) is an NYC based producer with extensive experience in live event and entertainment production. She’s been at Saturday Night Live for four seasons as an executive assistant and production coordinator, and loves nothing more than solving problems and turning other people’s creative dreams into reality. Her live events credits include a private concert for the Swedish pop duo The Magnettes and a beer crawl/boat cruise joint charity fundraiser for Urban Rivers & The Shedd Aquarium. She has worked alongside Emmy- and Tony-winning producers, and has several producing credits including acclaimed productions of Almost, Maine, Addams Family and The Effects of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds. When she’s not cooking up new projects with Amy, she enjoys running, learning about the NYC sanitation system, and looking for cats in apartment windows.
