What’s Happening?

The popular street painting festival in the cultural center of the Golden Triangle features more than 150 artists using the streets as a unique canvas, and then using chalk to create fantastic and colorful paintings at the viewer’s feet.

These street paintings range from original artwork to reproductions of classics. A longtime favorite of many locals and visitors to Denver, the Chalk Art Festival’s new home in the Golden Triangle Creative District is perfectly situated near museums, galleries, and other creative organizations, notably adjacent to anchors Denver Art, Clyfford Still and Kirkland Museums.

DCAF is free to attend and encourages professional and emerging artists to participate. Five professional Madonnari, three hailing from Colorado, return as fan-favorite highlights of the event. Madonnari are named for Italian street painters that began the tradition in the 16th Century in Italy when the preferred subject of the piece was the Madonna.

This event promises to be fun for the entire family! DCAF will showcase a mural and unbelievable 3-D drawings guests must see to believe. The Youth Challenge will feature groups of students from local schools and organizations who are invited to compete for art supplies that will go directly to their respective visual art programs. Guests can also take young artists to the dedicated Kids Corner, where they have a chance to create their own masterpieces. DCAF will have an array of food vendors, tasty libations, and live music throughout the festival.
