What’s Happening?

There's more to Colorado's rich railroading heritage than simply trains! Join the fun at our first-ever Rail Fair, as the Colorado Railroad Museum celebrates the role railroads have played in the agricultural, mining and transportation history of our state.

Steam Train Rides will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., pulled by an 1881-vintage coal-fired, narrow-gauge steam locomotive. During those same hours, a variety of special activities and demonstrations will be ongoing throughout the Museum grounds.

Representatives from the National Western Stock Show will be on hand to shareDenver's rich heritage as a regional livestock hub. The Forney Transportation Museum will showcase a covered wagon, showcasing the early 19th century's primary means of transporting emigrants to Colorado. Learn more about Colorado mining, and the extensive railroad network that once served our state.

Also on hand this day will be "Spike" the railroad dog--the Museum's official mascot. Turntable demonstrations will be ongoing, so try your hand at pushing a full-sized railroad turntable with just...you. Food and beverage will be available for purchase as well.

Regular admission and train ride prices apply this day. Capacity is limited, so advance reservations are suggested. More information: www.ColoradoRailroadMuseum.org/event/rail-fair.
