The First Chasidic Jewish Woman to Hold Public Office in the U.S.

She has been named one of the 50 most influential Jewish women in the world. She personifies strong leadership without compromising her Jewish values. Meet the Honorable Judge Rachel (Ruchie) Freier, the first Chasidic Jewish woman to hold public office in United States history.

Rachel Freier is a celebrated New York City Criminal Court judge and one of the founders of Ezras Nashim, an all-female Jewish volunteer E.M.T. ambulance service in Brooklyn that has challenged her community’s conception of the role women can play in public and professional life.
