Faith, Family, Football: Remembering the Spiritual Legacy of FSU Coach Bobby Bowden

What’s Happening?

FSU Seminoles Coach Bobby Bowden often told his players they should have three priorities: faith, family, and football – in that order. Several months after his passing, the Village Square’s regular God Squad series will devote a special program to Bowden’s spiritual legacy. This program will feature a number of Bowden’s former FSU football players recounting memorable tales about their legendary coach and the faith in God that animated his life. Join us and enjoy lots of poignant pigskin stories and (no doubt) some holy humor as we remember “a man after God’s own heart.”

This program will be held digitally via ZOOM! Register at https://tlh.villagesquare.us/event/bowden/.

God Squad regular Father Tim Holeda of St. Thomas More Co-Cathedral will moderate this discussion with former football players under Coach Bowden. Several players have been invited – the following have confirmed to date: Leon County Commissioner Nick Maddox (running back on the 1999 National Championship Team), Dan Campbell (offensive guard on the 1993 National Championship Team), Ryan Sprague (tight end on the 1999 National Championship Team), and Charlie Ward, (1993 College Football Heisman Trophy Winner and Davey O’Brian Award recipient).

More about The Village Square
A nervy bunch of liberals and conservatives who believe that dialogue and disagreement make for a good conversation, a good country and a good time.
