History

What’s Happening?

Visitors are invited to enjoy a sensory friendly morning at the museum from 9:00am-11:00am with modified sounds, lights, and hands-on experiences that focus on the VMHC's signature temporary exhibit Give Me Liberty: Virginia & the Forging of a Nation. This exhibition will close on January 4th, 2026, making this one of the last chances to experience this unique anniversary show.

Our education team will be on hand to facilitate learning with replica Revolutionary War artifacts, mystery objects, and a create your own tri-corn hat craft.

Please Note:

Our introductory video will not play until 11am and the theater will instead serve as a quiet area to decompress. Other spaces will also offer modified sound and light where possible.
Our front desk has fidgets available on request.
You can learn more about our building by viewing the Pre-Visit Social Story
